This year the Penedès Wine Route (Ruta del Vi del Penedès) celebrates an important milestone—its 25th anniversary. What began in 2001 as one of Spain's pioneering wine tourism initiatives has grown into one of the country's most respected wine destinations, welcoming visitors from around the world to discover the vineyards, wineries, gastronomy, and culture of the Penedès.
A pioneer in enotourism
Twenty-five years ago, wine tourism was still relatively unknown in Spain. The Penedès Wine Route helped change that by bringing together wineries, restaurants, rural accommodations, museums, guides, and local businesses under one shared vision: to showcase the unique character of the Penedès through authentic experiences.
Today, the route includes nearly 200 tourism partners and continues to set the standard for sustainable, high-quality wine tourism in Catalonia.
